Pressure tactics
Some pages are built to make you buy now, before you compare. The goal is urgency, not information.
What they look like
- Countdown timers, often ones that reset when you reload the page.
- "Only 3 left in stock" on items that never run out.
- "27 people are viewing this right now."
- "Today only" banners on a sale that's always on.
What to do
Slow down. A real deal will almost always still be there after five minutes of comparing. Reload the page: if the timer starts over, it was never real.
What BuyWise looks at
Timers, scarcity claims, live viewer counts and limited-time claims on the page. Inflated "was" prices are checked separately, as fake discounts.
